THERE is still a chance to camp at the Winnipeg Folk Festival.
A limited number of tickets to set up a tent in the festival’s main campground will be made available Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster.ca and 888-655-5354. Tickets will not be available in person at Ticketmaster outlets.
The total price for a five-day festival pass and camping is $303, including all taxes and service charges. A limit of two tickets per person will be available.
“Quiet camping” passes and five-day ticket packages are still available for $263 all in.
This year’s Winnipeg Folk Festival takes place July 4-8 at Birds Hill Park. The west gate of the park will open at 7 a.m. on July 4. Vehicles will not be allowed to stop or park along Hwy 59 prior to the opening of the gate.
Festival-goers will again have the option of the free Winnipeg Transit Festival Express service this year. The buses will depart every 30 minutes from Memorial Boulevard and York Avenue throughout the weekend. Information and operating times can be found online at winnipegfolkfestival.ca.
Some of this year’s festival headliners include Canadian indie-songstress Feist, political folkie Billy Bragg, blues group the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Latin funk collective Ozomatli, an all-star tribute to Woody Guthrie featuring Mary Gauthier and Jimmy LaFave, gypsy punk group Devotchka, neo-folk star Iron & Wine, singer-songwriter Beth Orton and hip-hop troubadour K’naan.
