Beth Orton has been announced as the headliner for this year’s Village Green festival in Southend on Saturday, July 12.
The singer-songwriter is renowned for her ‘folktronica’ sound and has worked with the likes of the Chemical Brothers, Beck and William Orbit as well as winning many awards, including Best Female Artist at the BRIT Awards.
Beth joins Essex duo Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, Fairground Attraction singer Eddi Reader and New York ska band The Slackers at the festival at Chalkwell Park which is organised by arts and cultural organisation Metal. Many more music, comedy, theatre and artistic activities will be taking place during the day, with more acts to be announced.
Sean McLoughlin of Metal said, “We are very lucky to have such a world class act coming to Chalkwell Park. Beth will be doing a world tour this summer and to think that we will be part of that is a real buzz.”
