Ed Sheeran, The Lumineers, and 500 More Artists Answer in New Mini-Documentary
Now here’s a question to which there truly is no wrong answer: Do you prefer John Lennon or Paul McCartney?
More than 500 musicians, actors, sports stars, and movie directors confess their affection for one Beatle over the other in the new 30-minute documentary “Lennon or McCartney: A Beatles Documentary,” which you can watch above.
The brainchild of music journalist Matt Schichter, he spent 10 years asking celebs the three-word question, instructing them to reply with only one name.
Pete Townshend of The Who sides with McCartney, Beth Orton says Lennon, while Bo Diddley responds, “Neither one. I don’t understand what they’re doing. Never have.” Other contrarians chose George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Lou Reed, Keith Richards, and Jimi Hendrix.
Lennon, who was killed 34 years ago this month, ended up winning the poll with 282 votes to McCartney’s 196. Fifty respondents picked both artists, neither of them, or declined to answer.
If asked the same question, who would you choose?
