Allen Ginsberg’s iconic beat generation poem “Howl” turns 60 this year, and to mark the occasion, producer Hal Willner has organized a star-studded benefit event.
Promising an evening of “music, words and funny people,” the benefit will feature appearances by performers like Devendra Banhart, Kevin Drew, Will Forte, Macy Gray, Petra Haden, Andy Kim, Courtney Love, John Mulaney, Beth Orton, Amy Poehler, Tim Robbins, Lori Singer, Chad Smith and Lucinda Williams.

Willner has extensive experience in organizing benefit events, having previously staged tributes to figures like Edgar Allen Poe, Randy Newman, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young and William S. Borroughs.
The event will take place April 7 at the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles. Proceeds will go to the David Lynch Foundation, which seeks to “”fund the implementation of scientifically proven stress-reducing modalities” for by making Transcendental Meditation accessible to a-risk populations.
